Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The capital of Cambodia, Phnom Phen is an interesting yet slightly depressing place with a list of sights to see that include sad stories of war and tragedies. The place is packed with touts and tuc-tuc drivers wanting to take you anywhere and everywhere. While here we went to the shooting range to fire off a few fully automatic weapons, and followed that by going to the Killing fields. After that we went to a school (M21) where it was converted to a camp where the people were massacred by the thousands. For the next 3 days I felt horrible for going to the range and playing with weapons and really felt like it didn't belong here.

Your pictures are so picturesque! The one with the skulls in kind of creepy! Such a different world out there! Take care!

HI SON:

It was good to hear from you the other day. It is nice to know that you are safe & doing well.
Your pictures are phenomenal, and Merlin & I are amazed at all that you have seen. The wonderful memories, that I have spending time with you in Peru, & traveling around China with both you & Melissa may seem small to you, but I will cherish them for the rest of my life. Everyone here is doing great. It has been a very busy week, starting out on Mon. with Stefanie graduating from the 8th grade. She looked very pretty in her new sundress. Brady is doing an awesome job in baseball this year. He is playing in tournaments every weekend on a traveling league. I went to see Koby received his Caldecott award on Tue. for reading 74 books throughout the school year. It was extra reading, but not required. Everyone is proud of him for this great accomplishment. Hard to believe that his 8th birthday is almost here, and he is on his way to 3rd grade. Yesterday we went to Katies High School graduation party. She is going to be attending U N C starting this fall. Everyone at the party said to tell you HI, and wished you were there. Your dad was in town to see Melissa, so he came with her to the party, and seemed to be having a good time. I was amazed how much he looks like your Grandpa Craig.

LOVE YA MOM:

P S: Merlin has a guy that may be interested in buying your G T O. He wants to see it, we may arrange to take him up there. Let us know what you think. Your Grandma Duke, Melissa, & I can’t wait to see you in Aug. in Europe. I may be able to see you before then. I would still like to travel to Egypt, and Turkey.
